Overview

Our refund and returns policy lasts 30 days. If 30 days have passed since your purchase, we can’t offer you a full refund or exchange.

At Book Direct Kenya Safaris, we value your trust and strive to deliver exceptional safari experiences. We understand that travel plans can change, and this Refund and Returns Policy explains how we handle cancellations, refunds, and booking amendments.

 1. Safari Bookings and Deposits

  • A deposit (usually 30%–50% of the total safari cost) is required to confirm your booking.
  • The remaining balance is due before the start of your safari, unless otherwise stated in your invoice or confirmation email.
  • All payments can be made via bank transfer, credit card, or secure online payment gateway.

 2. Cancellation Policy

If you must cancel your booking, please notify us in writing (via email or WhatsApp) as soon as possible.
Refunds depend on the time of cancellation prior to your departure date:

More than 60 days before departure 90% refund (less bank/transaction fees)
30–59 days before departure 70% refund
15–29 days before departure 50% refund
7–14 days before departure 25% refund
Less than 7 days or no show No refund

 Note: Some lodges and airlines have stricter cancellation rules. Their specific terms will be communicated before booking confirmation.

3. Amendments and Postponements

We understand travel plans may change.

  • You can reschedule your safari up to 30 days before departure with no penalty (subject to availability).
  • Postponed safaris must be rebooked within 12 months from the original travel date.
  • Any rate differences (seasonal or supplier changes) will be communicated before confirming the new date.

4. Refund Process

Approved refunds are processed within 14 business days after written confirmation.
Refunds are made via the original payment method, minus applicable bank charges or service fees.

 5. Non-Refundable Items

Certain items and services are non-refundable, including:

  • Park entrance fees and government levies (once issued).
  • Airline tickets, train tickets, and ferry bookings.
  • Third-party booking fees for lodges or camps.
  • No-show or early departure after safari commencement.

6. Force Majeure (Unforeseen Circumstances)

If your safari cannot proceed due to events beyond our control — such as natural disasters, political unrest, or pandemics — we will:

  • Offer a trip reschedule at no extra charge, or
  • Provide a partial refund after deducting non-recoverable costs from hotels, parks, or airlines.

We aim to handle every case with fairness and understanding. Each refund or reschedule request is reviewed individually to ensure the best outcome for our guests.
